Supervision

You have your degree; what do you do?

You’ve just received your graduate degree in counseling, and you’re working in a mental health agency that does not provide post-graduate supervision. Without it, you can’t accrue the needed supervised hours to be licensed as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) by the Mississippi State Board of Examiners for Licensed Professional Counselors (MLPCB).

You’re a school counselor who wants to become an LPC, but you can’t afford to take a pay cut and lose your benefits by taking a job in a mental health setting, nor is there anyone onsite who is qualified to provide supervision.

Let me provide your supervision for licensure.

Group vs. Individual Supervision

The MLPCB requires that you get 100 hours of individual supervision from a Board Qualified Supervisor (BQS). Fifty of those hours can be earned in graduate school, and 50 of those hours can be group supervision. See the MLPCB Rules and Regulations for more information.

Most post-graduate LPC candidates need 50 to 100 hours of individual supervision. I primarily provide individual supervision; but if one or more supervisees desire group supervision, I can provide both individual and group supervision.

My Qualifications

I have been an LPC and a practicing counselor since February 2002. My MS license number is 0895. I have been a BQS since July 2008. My BQS number is 33.

I have provided supervision to both graduate and post-graduate students. For four years, I trained mental health and school counselors in the Department of Counselor Education at Delta State University.

I have extensive experience working with clients needing treatment for most mental health disorders. I do not work with alcohol or drug addiction, so I don’t provide supervision for individuals working with this population.
